"Know what sparks the light in you. Then use that light to illuminate the world." Oprah Winfrey
I'm sitting at Starbucks, enjoying some much-needed "me time" when I notice this quote on my coffee sleeve. And then I see it, right above the quote ... my name. Yes, me. It's as if Oprah is speaking directly to me. "What sparks the light in you?" She asks.
"Are you talking to me? Oprah?"
"Yes Linda," I hear her say, "I want you to think about your light."
What does spark my light? Such an important question. As I ponder this, I realize that each day is a little different. One day my spark will come from my children, the next, simply from a good cup of coffee. It's doesn't take much. A spark is a small thing. It's a small thing that grows and spreads and can become a raging fire. A spark starts a fire, if it's given fuel and oxygen - just like me.
But wait! I need water too. And water puts out a fire. I felt confused. But then it dawned on me. I need to put out my fire each night - only to spark up again in the morning.
So yes, Oprah. I believe you. Yes! "My light WILL eventually illuminate the world."
Oprah GETS me. I'm so glad I GOT this coffee.
